Mason Jar Berry Cake Trifle

Mason Jar Berry Cake Trifle is the best dessert around! It's quick and easy to make and you can even make it a patriotic dessert for the holidays this summer!

A few weeks ago we shared a mason jar salad recipe with you! This week, I wanted to share something a little sweeter! This is still a dessert, but certainly a more healthy option if you’re trying to avoid the heavier sweets after dinner or just in general. The nice thing about this dessert is that because it includes fruit, we can double it as a breakfast treat! I love making a couple of these at the beginning of the week and treating myself a couple times throughout the week when I get a hankering for something sweet. Meal planning can seem strict and boring sometimes, but adding little treats like this to your meal plans goes a long way!

Pro Tip: if you shop at the farmer’s market, use whichever berries you can get a great deal on that week to save money!

For this mason jar berry cake trifle, I used smaller mason jars just because I definitely didn’t need a quart of this delicious trifle (even if I wanted it)! You can use any small mason jars, but truthfully, I found these small mason jars with handles at Goodwill and I use them all the time! Thrifting is one of my favorite hobbies because I get to find kitchen things like this and different props for food photography as well so I can share recipes here with you guys!

I’ve got a few more mason jar treats that I think you’ll love but I wanted to share this one first because it’ll be perfect for all the summer holidays this year! You could whip a few of these up for 4th of July to celebrate as well. They’d make perfect party treats and if you don’t want to use mason jars, consider using paper cups or something disposable so you won’t have as many dishes to do! These also work well for Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day celebrations for your loved ones in the armed forces!

You’ll notice I added some chocolate chips on top, but feel free to add something else or forego those! It’s not pertinent, I just like to have that extra little kick of sweetness to really satisfy my sweet tooth! Let us know if you make this mason jar berry cake trifle and what you like about it!
