This is the age of technology and believe it or not, there are ways for high school kids to earn money as a VA (Virtual Assistant). Now I know it is not yet a very common thing for high schoolers to work as a virtual assistant. When you think of teens getting a job it usually consists of things like being a dishwasher, mowing lawns, babysitting, etc. But VA’s are becoming more of a need these days for bloggers and even companies. So here are some things they can do as a VA.  I do hire VA’s here on Barefoot Budgeting and looking forward to hiring more teenagers and young adults going forward, they add a viewpoint I cannot provide my readers and add a value for young adults looking to earn and save in so many ways!

Ways for High School Kids to Earn Money as a Virtual Assistant

Round-Ups

Round-ups are one of the easiest things to do and sell and in my opinion, the best things to start out with. There are so many options for round-ups and they really have no end. In case you do not know, a round-up is basically collections of links/pictures of items from places like Amazon and Etsy or links to other blogs and they follow a certain theme or subject. Bloggers are always looking for them and because they are so easy to make your teen has an opportunity to earn some pretty good money.   An example on this website of a Round Up is here or here.

Photo Editing

Not only will this let them earn some money but it is great for any teen that has an interest in editing pictures. With the website Picmonkey, any teen can go in an edit a photo for a blogger. Whether it is for Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, you name it, they can do it. It isn’t difficult to learn at all, but there are a few things to know first. They will have to use stock images and there are plenty of websites that you can get them from, some you have to pay a small amount for and others are free, such as Unsplash.com. There are also websites that will show the exact sizes that the picture needs to be on whichever social media platform they are editing the photo for.

Game Reviews

This is the best for any teen who loves video games. They can do something they like and get paid by reviewing it, what teenager wouldn’t love that? There are plenty of bloggers and sometimes even the game companies that will pay for honest game reviews. Now how often they can sell these depends on if they can find the right bloggers, of course, ones that are looking for this type of content. It could even lead to a permanent VA job for them if a blogger really likes their reviews. Either way, it is well worth it especially if your teenager wants to make some cash.

Screencasting

If your teenager has a knack for computers and knows their way around they should try screencasting. A screencast is a video of the computer screen and many people use them to make tutorials or how-to’s on things like inputting data, fixing computer problems, etc. Sometimes companies use them to help sell their products. There is so much that can be done with screencasting and bloggers/companies are always keeping an eye out for them.  Several examples of screencast videos can be found here.

These are just a few but there are tons of ways for high school kids to earn money as a VA and these days it could potentially be a great opportunity for them. It could lead to a full-time job one day and it can help them learn how to run their own blog one day if that is something they are interested in. The world is changing and VA’s and blogs are becoming more and more prominent so it’s time to start paying attention to it. Is your high schooler interested in doing something like this? Do you think it is a good way for them to earn money? Let me know in the comments!
